Facial wrinkles resulting from a loss of skin elasticity and volume loss are called static. The collagen in the skin declines as we age and the loss of it makes the skin slack or sag and forming static wrinkles.
Examples of Static Wrinkles:
•Facial folds along the cheeks
•Facial lines at the corners of the mouth
Static wrinkles are visible when your face is at rest.
Facial wrinkles caused by repetitive muscle movements are referred to as dynamic. Frowning, squinting, worrying and laughing can cause dynamic wrinkles.
Examples of Dynamic Wrinkles:
• Glabellar lines(frown lines between the eyebrows)
• Forehead lines
• Crow’s feet
Dynamic wrinkles are visible only when we are making facial expressions.
